‘The whole region is being shorted.’ Pasco officials beg for their fair share of vaccine.

DADE CITY — When Pasco officials learned Monday that the local Florida Health Department office was getting exactly zero of the 3,500 doses of the COVID-19 vaccine they expected, they took to the phones.
Calls by commissioners and staff to state legislators and state emergency management netted Pasco County just 1,500 vaccines. With more than 560,000 residents in the county, it is estimated more than a third are age 65 and above, the population the Health Department is targeting for vaccination.
