When driving around Lubbock, you may have noticed colorful animal statues by the side of the road. The ones I most commonly pass are the pink dog and the orange fox, and they always brighten my day. Each time I drive by them, I wonder why they're there. I did some research and was saddened to see they wont be around much longer. I looked into it and discovered that the colorful statues are a part of a public art installation made by Jeffie Brewer with the Lubbock Arts Alliance. The pieces range from 4 to 12 feet tall and weigh between 200 and 500 pounds. The first five statues were placed at major intersections around Lubbock in 2019.
