The Pound Ridge Historical Society is adding to its burgeoning film collection with the release of a new documentary this week about the inimitable Lisl Steiner. Shot and edited by Natasha Seery, the short film chronicles the extraordinary life of Ms. Steiner, who, as a child, fled Austria under Hitlerâs rule and, through a combination of curiosity, charm and natural talent, established herself as a world-renowned photographer. The documentary also interviews local leaders about their interactions and impressions of Ms. Steiner, one of Pound Ridgeâs most illustrious longtime residents. Asked what inspired her to create the film, Ms. Seery said in an interview that âthereâs always a good story out of Lisl,â but she really chose to pursue the project as an acknowledgement of Ms. Steinerâs strong civic conscience.Â
