Hortensia Mendez, 1945 - 2021 Hortensia Mendez Hortensia Mendez, 75, passed away January 20, 2021, at Hays Medical Center. She was born May 29, 1945, at Tamaulipas, Mexico, to Valentin & Nieves (Perez) Morado. She married Manuel Mendez in 1973 at Tamaulipas, Mexico. Coming from Homestead, Florida in 2007, Hortensia was a Great Bend resident. She was a homemaker and especially loved spending time with her family. Survivors include, her husband Manuel Mendez of the home; two sons, Juan M. Mendez and Jorge V. Mendez; a daughter, Maria D. Martinez; six grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; and many brothers and sisters. Visitation will be held from 1:00 to 9:00 p.m., Sunday, January 24, 2021 at Bryant Funeral Home, with family to receive friends from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Funeral Service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Monday, January 25, 2021, at Bryant Funeral Home, with Cesar Regalado presiding. Interment will be in Golden Belt Memorial Park, Great Bend. Memorials have been designated to the Hortensia Mendez Funeral Expense Fund, in care of Bryant Funeral Home.
