Hot times planned this weekend in Abilene Our view It's coming hot and fast this week. The second weekend in June has been targeted for a variety of activities, a stark contrast to this time last year, when nothing much was going. And not to be left out is Mother Nature, who just now realizes it's nearing mid-June and it needs to be West Texas hot. The big event this weekend, of course, is the ninth Children's Art & Literacy Festival downtown, beginning with a parade and sculpture unveiling tonight. The 2020 event did not happen, with most activities pushed to 2021. Guest author-illustrator Loren Long delayed his first trip to Abilene.
