The winter Julie Villard moved to New Zealand from France, she found herself going to the doctor every three weeks, and couldn’t understand why. “I was sick, sniffling. I didn't know why. I thought, I’m a strong woman.” Some years later in 2018, Julie, who grew up in the French Pyrenees, moved from her “beautiful 1905 Christchurch villa” – where the indoor temperature hovered around 10 degrees – into a newly-built ultra-energy efficient home in Lyttelton. Kirsten Sheppard Julie Villard wanted her Lyttelton, Christchurch home to be compact and efficient.
