joining me in washington, independent senator joe lieberman of connecticut. thanks for being here, senator. >> thank you. >> i want to try and wrap up this tax cut discussion here. >> okay. >> that is, what's going to happen here? >> well, i think when we come back in november or december, first thing is we've got to extend these tax cuts. if we don't do anything, everybody's taxes go up in january. >> is that a possibility? >> it is a possibility, and to me, it's the surest way to send america back into a second dip of a recession, which nobody wan wants. we've got to find a way to break through the partisan greg and compromise. my guess is that the probability is that we will extend the so-called middle-class tax cuts permanently so to speak. and we will agree to extend the tax cuts on high income earners for at least a year or two. i hope we can do that. i think that's good for -- i favor that.
