Synopsis
“We were the first one to raise questions on the farm bills and we don’t want to repeal these laws as other farmer organisations are demanding. We had suggested four amendments to the laws to the government,” BKS general secretary Badri Narayan Choudhary told ET. “During talks with farmers, the government has shown willingness to fulfil two of our demands. However, the government hasn’t said anything on the MSP (minimum support price).”

NEW DELHI: The Bharatiya Kisan Sangh (BKS), the RSS-affiliated farmer union has decided to launch a ‘Jan Jagran’ programme across 50,000 villages in the country from January 26 to “spread awareness” among the people regarding the three farm laws that protestors want the government to repeal. The BKS, which is not part of the protests, is not in favour of repeal of the laws but wants the government to make some amendments to the laws.
