We are extremely excited to announce that Zion Elementary School District 6 with the help of the Illinois State Board of Education and the Lake County Health Department, will be implementing rapid testing (BinaxNOW) within our schools starting January 2021. Rapid testing will help facilitate the continuation of in-person learning throughout our entire District. In August of this year, we asked our families in what format they wanted their students to return to school, and we listened. From the first day, we began planning for the 2020-2021 school year we made it a top priority to give our families the option to pick the format in which they wanted their student(s) to attend school. Implementing BinaxNOW in our buildings provides us an incredible opportunity that will allow us to continue offering our families a choice regarding how they want their children to learn; whether that is in-person (“Bricks”), or virtually (“Clicks”). The health and safety of our students and staff is always our number one priority, and though the number of positive COVID-19 cases within our district remain low, we are thrilled to add another layer to our multi-tiered health and safety plan.
