By Doug Russell May 3, 2021 The Milwaukee Brewers were beaten soundly Sunday in their series finale by the Los Angeles Dodgers, 16-4, with rookie Alec Bettinger taking the brunt of the abuse on the mound during his Major League debut. Bettinger surrendered tow grand slams in each of the first two innings, staking the Dodgers to a 9-0 lead after two innings. Bettinger lasted four innings, surrendering 11 earned runs on 11 hits. After one MLB game, Bettinger’s ERA is an eye-popping 24.75. Veteran Jordan Zimmerman, who initially retired before the Brewers summoned him for help in the bullpen did little to douse the flames begun by Bettinger; Zimmerman giving up five earned runs in 3.2 innings of work.
