CLEVELAND, OH – 3B JOSÉ RAMÍREZ and RHP SHANE BIEBER have been named to the American League All-Star Team, announced this evening by Major League Baseball. Ramίrez and Bieber were selected via last weekend’s player voting. Ramίrez, 28, is batting .265 (72-for-272) with 18 doubles, 1 triple, 18 home runs, 54 runs scored and 50 RBI in 76 games in 2021 (.345/.537/.882, 2.8 bWAR). He leads the team in virtually every offensive category and entered play today 10th in the American League in runs, extra-base hits (tied, 37) and home runs (tied, 18). Today’s selection marks his third career berth on the AL All-Star squad (2017, 2018). Bieber, 26, has posted a 7-4 mark in 2021 with a 3.28 ERA in 14 starts (90.2IP, 80H, 33ER, 33BB, 130SO, .232 avg). He has been on the Injured List since June 14 with a right shoulder strain. At the time of his Injured List transaction he was leading the American League in strikeouts (130) and innings (90.2) and was tied for seventh in wins (7). The 2020 American League Cy Young winner will enjoy his second All-Star appearance following his 2019 MVP performance in Cleveland’s Midsummer Classic.
