The trial of a man charged with killing a mother and her two children in 2019 began Tuesday with his wife testifying that she saw him shoot and kill Rossibeth Flores-Rodriguez. Marvin Esquivel Lopez, 33, faces three charges of first-degree murder for killing Flores-Rodriguez, 29, who went by "Rosie," and her two children, Grecia Daniela Alvarado-Flores, 11; and Ever Jose Mejia-Flores, 5. All three were found shot to death after police responded to Esquivel Lopez's Des Moines home late on the night of July 18, 2019. Esquivel Lopez, also known as Marvin Escobar-Orellana to federal immigration authorities, said after his arrest he had returned to the United States after previous deportations in 2010 and 2011.
