Mario Gonzalez video shows Alameda officers kneeling on him before death

On April 19 officers arrived at a small park in Alameda – an island city just west of Oakland – after getting a pair of 911 calls. One said the man appeared to be breaking tags off alcohol bottles and the other said he wasn't doing anything wrong but loitering in the area and "scaring my wife."
When police found Gonzalez, he appeared dazed and struggled to answer questions about his name and birth date. One of the officers is heard in the video talking to Gonzalez calmly for several minutes but getting mostly incoherent responses.
When officers try to put Gonzalez's hands behind his back and handcuff him after he fails to produce identification, he appears to resist. The video shows officers struggling to keep Gonzalez' hands behind his back and having difficulty getting him to the ground. Once he is there, Gonzalez looks like he's trying to get up and trying to get out of the officers' control, the video shows.
