THIS IS ALL PART OF QUITE A PROJECT UNDERWAY HERE ABOUT A YEAR AND A HALF AGO, BRIAN HICKEY AT THE START OF THIS. CALTRANS RECENTLY ANNOUNCING TO FINALLY BEGIN THE DEMOLITION OF THE PEDESTRIAN OVER CROSSING HERE JUST TO THE NORTH OF FRUIT RIDGE BOULEVARD. $9.7 MILLION EFFORT TO GET RID OF THE OLD BRIDGE AND REPLACE IT WITH THE NEW ONE ALREADY TAKING SHAPE HERE. WHILE PROJECT MANAGERS ARE STILL WORKING TO SET A FIRM DATE DEMO -- FOR DEMOLITION, IT COULD HAPPEN IN THE NEXT 10 DAYS TO TWO WEEKS. CALTRANS IS WARNING DRIVERS THAT THAT THIS WILL REDUCE TRAFFIC TO UST 3 LANES TOTAL, 2 NORTHBOUND AND 1 SOUTHBOUND DURING DEMO. THAT DEMO WORK IS SCHEDULED TO TAKE TWO NIGHT DURING THE OVERNIGHT HOURS SO IT SHOULD NOT IMPACT MORNING OR DAY TIME COMMUTES. CALTRANS SAYS THEY ARE FINALLY READY TO GET RID OF THAT OLD PEDESTRIAN OVER CROSSING AND PUT THE FINISHING TOUCHES ON THE NEW BRIDGE RIGHT NEXT TO IT THAT’S MORE COMPLIANT. THAT WILL TAKE ANOTHER TWO MONTHS BEFORE IT IS FULLY COMPLETED.
