Even before I officially launched Janis Spindel Serious Matchmaking in New York City in 1993, I had a bazillion male friends I'd fix up with women. In fact, there was an eight-month window where I managed to get 14 guys I knew engaged — and keep in mind, this was pre-internet. My eldest daughter and business partner, Carly, and I call ourselves "serious" matchmakers because we work only with commitment-minded men. Arm candy, trophy wives, gold diggers — that's not the business we're in. Our goal is to find our clients their perfect match with a combination of beauty, brains, body, balance, and the "it" factor that only experts like ourselves can spot. If that means traveling the world, we'll do just that — and we have.
