However, in 2018 I was fortunate to be in the Sahara in Morocco with the Tuareg people when storm clouds broke bringing flooding rains. Many of their sub-teen children had never seen rain. I had earlier naively asked why Tuareg wore dark clothing given that it absorbed the sun’s heat – the simple reason is they don’t have enough water for washing clothes and dark colours don’t show the dirt!
