Ilisagvik College internet gets boost April 22nd 5:25 pm |
In a day and age where speed of access to the Internet is of ever-increasing importance, this week's announcement that the North Slope region's tribal college had been gifted increased bandwidth was cause for celebration. Quintillion, which built a subsea fiber-optic network in the Arctic, and Alaska Communications announced Tuesday they had donated bandwidth to Ilisagvik College, more than doubling the college's bandwidth. "Ilisagvik College is infinitely grateful for the generous donation from Quintillion and Alaska Communications. We have experienced higher class volumes during the pandemic since we moved completely to virtual distance learning, so the donation comes at an unprecedented time when we need it most," said Ilisagvik College President Justina Wilhelm in a release. "We are fortunate for this partnership and look forward to continuing to work together. Savakta Atautchikun!"
