First place winners will advance to national competition in May. Brandon Eddy took first place for “COVID-19” in the television interview or talk show category; Tori Wright won first place for “Black in America” in the feature story category; Olivia Sowacke won first place for “Train Station” in the news category. Other winners were Ben Turnquest, second place for “Cancer Center” in the feature story category; Jaya Russell, second place for “Balloon Business” in the news story category; Ari Sline, second place for “Cannabis” in the television interview or talk show category; Noah Clausing, third place for “The Band” in the television interview or talk show category.
