The global growth is expected to be 5.5 percent in 2021 and 4.2 percent in 2022 after an estimated 3.5 percent contraction in 2020, according to the latest World Economic Outlook (WEO) released on Tuesday. The projection on global growth was revised up 0.3 percentage point from the forecast in October 2020. IMF's chief economist attributed the rise in the latest forecast to expectations of a vaccine-powered strengthening of activity and additional policy support in a few large economies.
