Last week, Iowa State Bank (ISB) made a significant pledge to the City of Lake View to be used on the construction of a new community center on Black Hawk Lake’s north shore. ISB President, Steve Spotts, presented the $20,000 pledge to Mayor, John Westergaard, who says, “Thank you for your generous commitment and for always supporting our community.” Planning for the estimated $1.45 million structure is already well underway. In October, the city council pledged $500,000 in tax increment financing (TIF) funds with the reminder sourced through private donations and grants. When completed, the Lake View Community Center will feature a large interior gathering area for receptions or meetings, a warming kitchen, a permanent bar and a large parking area. Fundraising for the project is still ongoing, and a construction timeline will not be released until their goal has been reached.
