Cyber specialists acting on behalf of the Iranian regime are peddling disinformation online in a bid to boost support for Scottish independence and weaken the UK, a new report has claimed. A study by the Henry Jackson Society think tank found Iranian agents were creating fake accounts and pages on Twitter and Facebook. Posing as locals, the accounts and pages then targeted Scottish voters and encouraged them to share pro-independence material among their contacts ahead of crunch Holyrood elections on Thursday this week. The report, seen by The Times, concluded that the activity undertaken by the Iranian regime was an attempt to 'attack the constitutional integrity of the United Kingdom'.
