Iranian diplomat convicted in bombing plot : vimarsana.com

An Iranian diplomat was convicted in Belgium on Thursday for planning a bomb attack against Iranian opposition group Mujahedeen-e-Khalq (MEK) in France. 
Assadollah Assadi was charged by prosecutors with attempted terrorist murder and participation in the activities of a terrorist group, according to a report from The Associated Press. The prosecutors sought a maximum sentence of 20 years in prison for Assadi, according to the wire service. 
Following the charges, the official claimed diplomatic immunity, and did not attend the hearing Thursday. He also refused to testify during court proceedings last year.

The Belgian court on Thursday rejected Assadi's claims of diplomatic immunity, and he was sentenced to 20 years in prison.
