COTTAGEVILLE — The once empty rolling fields at the fairgrounds were covered with a sea of vehicles and campers Monday. The Jackson County Junior Fair is back after a COVID-19-induced hiatus. The last junior fair was in 2019 because last year's was canceled due to COVID-19. Excitement filled the air during the first day of the week-long event as animals were loaded into stalls and fairgoers filled the stands of the showroom. The junior fair allows children involved in 4-H or Future Farmers of America across the state to show, and potentially sell, their farm animals. Two parents said it was important to get their children involved in the fair to learn responsibility.
