A Jackson man extradited from Texas in March after a hit-and-run crash on Christmas Eve that led to the death of an 81-year-old Howell woman will remain in jail pending his trial. Roberto Alcazar-Sanchez, 27, is facing charges of knowingly leaving the scene of a motor vehicle accident resulting in death and operating a motor vehicle with a suspended driver’s license while being involved in a fatal accident. On Dec. 24, Norman Shtab, 83, of Howell was driving a 2010 Mercedes Benz with his wife Phyllis as a passenger, when he exited Interstate 195 and tried to make a left turn onto Cedar Swamp Road, according to a news release issued by Ocean County Prosecutor Bradley Billhimer. That's when Shtab's car collided with a 2003 Chevrolet Silverado driven by Alcazar-Sanchez, the release said.
