JC, LISD middle college program marks 10 years : vimarsana.c

ADRIAN — Michael Loveday remembers feeling lost and bored in school.
Loveday felt like he wasn't being prepared for college. He wanted something more, something more challenging.
"I didn't feel like I was being properly engaged," he said.
Of all people, it was a doctor who turned Loveday onto the middle college program at Jackson College and the Lenawee Intermediate School District Tech Center.
"It's such an interesting concept," Loveday said. "I hadn't heard of it."
Loveday applied and was accepted into the JC/LISD Academy.
The academy offers high school students the ability to obtain a high school diploma and an associate degree in five years. It's an opportunity for high school students to save money on college — the academy is free — and get a taste of higher ed all before they graduate.
