JCPS 'do-over' year: School board approves all applications

LOUISVILLE, Ky. — Hundreds of students in Kentucky's largest school district will be able to redo a school year marred by lengthy bouts of virtual learning, their school board decided Tuesday.
In an unanimous vote, the Jefferson County Board of Education approved all supplemental school year requests during their Tuesday board meeting. Board member Sarah McIntosh was not present for the vote.
The move will allow more than 770 students to repeat their current grade in the 2021-22 school year, either retaking classes they took during the pandemic or taking ones closely linked to previous courses.
Senate Bill 128, signed into law in March, allowed all K-12 students to request a "do-over" year for one year only.
