Joanne A.P. Wilson, MD, the second Black woman to earn a medical degree at Duke, is now a professor emeritus after a pioneering 37-year career as a leader, gastroenterologist, and faculty member in the Department of Medicine. Retired or not, she continues to break new ground, most recently as the first Black president of the American Clinical and Climatology Association.
