Staff Sgt. Jame H. Merritt, 60, of Franklinville, was employed with Delsea Regional High School’s Junior Reserve Officers Training Corps program in July 2019 when he was accused of touching an 18-year-old student over her clothing while in an ROTC classroom during school hours.
Merritt had formed an “inappropriate teacher/student relationship where he engaged in inappropriate sexual conduct” with the student both during and after school hours, according to court documents. That included allegedly sending the student text messages after school hours, according to details included in an affidavit of probable cause.
