State Police are investigating after an inmate assaulted a guard at the Kentucky State Penitentiary in Eddyville Monday night. Kentucky State Police say just before 7 pm 30-year-old Lawaun Colvin of Louisville threw a female guard to the ground and attempted to remove her clothing to sexually assault her. Guards were able to stop Colvin quickly and the female guard was treated for minor injuries. The investigation will be presented to a Lyon County Grand Jury.
