May 5, 2021 As brands begin gearing up for summer, with chains like McDonald's in Alabama reporting they plan to hire 3,000 just in and around Birmingham during a hiring event next week, KFC said today it will bring on some 20,000 permanent full- and part-time workers nationally as a direct results of strong sales at the chicken chain, a news release said. In parent company Yum Brands' first-quarter earnings results, KFC reported 14% quarterly growth in sales and same-store sales growth of 11% on a two-year basis. That success, said the chain, highlighted the need for more workers and the drive to hire on those extra employees at all levels including hourly team members (cooks, prep and customer service), shift leaders, assistant managers and restaurant general managers.
