2yearold boy seen here on the left who died in october of last year. Were also looking to make sure that all of those victims find justice, whether that be mr. Martinez being responsible, or ruling out that anybody else could be possibly responsible for that. Martinez has not been charged in either crime. Authorities are still working to transfer him from Santa Clara County to stanislaus county. Live Team Coverage of the modesto killings now. Lets go live in modesto with new details about the victims. Reporter we learned quite a bit of new information in this News Conference this afternoon. Some of that new information is that police were first called here saturday afternoon because friends of dr. Amanda cruz called them out of concern, because she had missed a lunch date. And when they arrived here at her home they found her and four others inside, dead. Now, many of the candles and flowers placed outside of this home are people who first met amanda cruz because she was their physician. But over time they became friends. Jennifer french tells us dr. Cruz helped her through the last 11 years when her 11yearold son was born with cerebral palsy. One of the things we learned at the News Conference this afternoon is i was very sad and upset. I went to her and she said, jennifer, if i can deal with my son dying, you can deal with your depression. Reporter according to an obituary in the local paper, 2yearold Christopher Ripley died last year. The story does not describe how he died. During todays police News Conference they said detectives had been investigating his death as a possible homicide and Child Protective Services were monitoring the safety of the other children. Now, we also learned in this News Conference that police had wanted to talk with Martin Martinez as early as thursday. But did not actually get out to try to find him until they noticed that all the people inside the home here were dead, and then they started searching for him in san jose. Reporter in fact the Family Members are just holding an impromptu press briefing for reporters who have been staked out here in front of martinezs uncles home. And ill attend that as soon as i do my live shot here. But i spoke with a couple of the Family Members earlier today and they tell me that they are grieving not only for their own personal loss, but for the families of the other victims. After Martin Martinez was identified as a person of interest Modesto Police tipped off San Jose Police that he might be driving his red Lincoln Navigator to his uncles home in east san jose. After Modesto Police made their grisly discovery San Jose Police found the car saturday parked at the house. They staked out the lincoln but received another tip that martinez had already left with another Family Member in another car. That turned out to be his father. They went here to the westfield oak ridge mall to see a movie. Martinezs uncle ernie does not want his last name used. He said his brother, martinezs dad, had a rough couple of years. He told abc 7 news if his nephew is guilty, he never told his father about the murders. I would suspect he didnt. Reporter in fact, ernie says martinez and his father enjoyed the evening saturday night. They were coming out of a movie. Who goes to a movie. Reporter neighbors in the working class neighborhood were shocked by the mass murders. Scary to know he can be in my neighborhood. I wont be happy to sleep knowing we have somebody like that as a neighbor. Reporter in spanish, ernie told us he didnt know if his nephew did it but if hes guilty justice will prevail. Drivers in the trivalley endured a nightmare commute this morning after broken Construction Equipment blocked lanes near president the 580 junction. Construction crews had to keep one lane closed into the afternoon. Creating huge backups on 680 from dublin to san ramon, and all the way back to tracy for most of the day. A worker was rescued after being trapped underneath a collapsed roof. Sky 7 hd was over the scene this morning. Rescue crews tell abc 7 news the man was wedged between the roof of the garage he was working on. Firefighters were able to lift the roof enough for the worker to crawl out on his own. Nervous moments today in the east bay as firefighters worked to contain a pair of brush fires that were threatening homes. Sky 7 hd was overhead near happy valley road in pleasanton around 11 00 this morning. Cal fire contained both fires just before noon. No structures were damaged. Bumpertobumper in both dire a teenager is recovering this afternoon after surviving a 300foot fall off a cliff in San Francisco. Heres video of that 18yearold coming off of a rescue boat and getting placed on a stretcher. Crews found him at the bottom of a cliff at lands end shortly after 2 00 this morning. The San FranciscoFire Department said the teenager was walking with a friend by a trail called dead mans point when he suddenly fell. There are no lights. This is not a good place to hike. A lot of narrow roads. Its easily if youre not familiar with these trails, to fall off the cliff. Stay away. Do not come out here at night. A teenager was taken to San Francisco general hospital. Rescuers say hes pretty banged up but expected to recover. A man who fled from Oakland Police officers yesterday died after getting stuck between two buildings. Look at the space that the man somehow was able to wedge himself into. Police used a ruler to show how tight it is. Only 12 inches. The man took off running from his vehicle on 65th avenue. He was found half an hour later stuck between the buildings, unconscious, unresponsive. He was pronounced dead at the hospital. Police say the man was wanted on a 10,000 warrant. The governor and bay area leaders are at the vatican for a twoday social justice and Climate Change symposium. There has been an increase in humidity here as well as in the Hawaiian Islands because of the tropical and subtropical moisture flowing in both directions. Sunny skies right now over the bay area. A rather brisk breeze has developed near the coast. Cooling influence near the coast already. But still pretty warm and humid in the inland areas. 8 degrees cooler in San Francisco than it was this hour yesterday. 10 degrees cooler in hayward, 9 degrees cooler in oakland. The big change close to the coast and the bay. Inland areas havent experienced quite so big a change from yesterday. Right now, were looking at humidity dew point temperatures, fairly elevated. So that explains the humid feel to the air we have today. Cooling, drying relief on the way. These are our forecast features. Cooler pattern for the next few days drier air arrives tomorrow. Thats beginning to happen already. A seasonal pattern will continue through the weekend. There is the remnant low for what was Tropical Storm and hurricane dolores moving westward. Its kicked the tropical moisture up and down the area which explains the rise in humidity we had the past couple of days. Drier air from our northwest blowing in our direction. Some of that humidity is still a headache out towards the Hawaiian Islands. 7 00 this evening, well see a combination of high middlelevel clouds moving over as well as low clouds near the coast. Well be getting back to normal by tomorrow afternoon. Overnight lows will be generally in the 60s. Still above average. Not quite so high as last night. Tomorrows high, low to mid80s in the south bay, upper 70s to about 80 on the peninsula. Low to mid60s on the coast. Low to mid80s across the north bay valleys tomorrow.
