He appeared in a modesto courtroom, shackled at the waist, Martin Martinez acknowledged his name and birthday. Hes charged with two felony counts counts first is murder of christopher riply. The second is a child abuse count. Reporter christopher was the son of dr. Amanda crews. According to the complaint, martinez abused the boy so severely the boy died. I asked her about her son. She said he had an accident. I said was he ill . She said no. He passed away at home of a head injury. Reporter crews children were found dead in crews home last weekend along with martinezs 57yearold mother. Martinez is the suspect but yet to be formally charged in those murders. So far, the fire burned 100 acres mandatory evacuations have been ordered in sandy flats. Another fire is burning near rutherford. Firefighters dropped water on it from lake hennessey. Cal fire tells us this fire is in an especiallydifficult area. It has steep terrain it is very remote, and so its just making it very hard to fight the fire.
