This after a driver hit and killed a pedestrian unfortunately. Happened around 3 30 this morning on the freeway near Fourth Street. The pedestrian ended up on top of a gray porsche. The crash closed three lanes for about an hour. All lanes were back open, though, by 4 30 this morning. Its not clear how the pedestrian ended up on the freeway in the first place. 5 02. No word on injuries or deaths so far. Hurricane maria is the strongest storm on record to make landfall in dominica. The red is the fastest winds, the orange hurricane, the yellow thats going to be storm winds. Look at the red go right over the eastern third, if you will, of puerto rico. Major damage there tomorrow morning and then it does weaken and head towards the turks and caicos with at least 74 mile per hour winds. So it is going to weaken just a little bit from a category 5 to a category 4 to possibly a category 3 as it starts to kind of head to the east of the bahamas. If it keeps that trajectory the United States will be okay but we will still keep an eye on the carolinas. The city of gilroy getting involved in the fight over daca now. We have just learned the south African Supreme Court will hear another case against iempian oscar pistorius. Pos kurts say the sentence against the runner is too lenient. He received a six Year Prison Sentence for the murder of his girlfriend reeva steenkamp. Prosecutors want 15 years. The murder on valentines day 2013 gained international headlines, this new case against the blade runner will start at the beginning of next month on november 3rd. It just doesnt end. Donald smart, 49, is found lying in the street also suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. Smart on his way to a job at a local diner, also dies at the scene. I got here, there was a guy laying on the ground, he had been shot multiple times. I heard about 10, 11 shots. As far as this potentially being a hate crime. A couple minor issues on our traffic map. East bay northbound highway 13 we are hearing about a disabled label blocking the left lanes, chp has been dispatched, they are on their way. Also the counter commute eastbound 24 before you get into caldecott tunnel, a couple calls into chp about loose gravel on the roadway, im seeing a little yellow through that 13 interchange, maybe some folks slowing down to go over that, just use some caution in that area, too.
