In those areas where the fires are, weve got conditions that are moving at 21 Miles Per Hour in santa clarita, 18 Miles Per Hour close by. Ill show you the forecast animation over the next few hours. The winds pick up overnight, gusting close to 35, 40 miles an hour. It continues to remain gusty throughout the day and into the evening sunday. Thats not great news. That coupled with very low humidity makes it very difficult for firefighters. Here is the visible satellite image from this afternoon. You can see the smoke from those fires, and with High Pressure and the clockwise flow of the air, it feeds right back into the bay area, impacting our air quality. New video of horse owners saving their horses trapped in stalls by the fast moving fires. Hundreds of them were saved. But about 30 to 40 of them died. The horsing community is rallying to support one another. Annabelle nunez from our sister station in los angeles has the story. I didnt want to watch. It was just it was too sad, too hard. But my heart goes out. Were horse people. Weve been horse people all our lives. And im just so sad and happy to give and do what i can. Reporter the devastation prompted people to fill up advance with donations headed to san diego county. We brought tshirts, jackets, some pants. Reporter this hits close to home. Its been absolutely heartbreaking. Its been hard to watch. What is so comfortable is to see the way the horse mens communities has come together to help. Reporter jill atkinsons friend was injured trying to save her horses. They had six horses, three of them died. She was airlifted, after trying to save her horses. Reporter a gofundme account has raised hundreds of thousands of dollars to help victims recover. The loss of lives of the horses, and what i dont think a lot of people understand is that the grooms that live at the barnes lost their homes. Reporter we watched a steady stream of people wanting to help. Dropping off bags of clothes and water, there to let victims know theyre not alone. They help me every day, the horses that i ride and win with. Like i said, its affecting all of us. People remember the anniversary of the shooting at the Sandy Hook Elementary School in connecticut. When 20 little children, and their exceptional teachers, were gunned down, you would think that that would be the limit. 20 students and six teachers died when a mentally disturbed man opened fire at the school in connecticut in 2012. New details about a terrifying bus crash in San Francisco last night that sent 29 passengers to the hospital. One of them is talking to abc 7 news about the frightening moments when that bus flipped over on highway 101. Abc 7 News Reporter Cornell Barnard is at San Francisco General Hospital with more. These moments, you never understand what is happening. Reporter marco zorsi was just released from the hospital with a bad head wound. We were dancing on the road and fell on one side. Then i forgot everything. Reporter he says the bus was taking a group from San Francisco to palo alto for a holiday party. But at hospital curve, the bus started fish tailing, hit the Center Divider and bounced back across four lanes. The bus flipped over . On my side. I was very lucky. Reporter lucky indeed. He escaped the bus. All 29 passengers and the driver were taken to local hospitals. The driver was not impaired at the time of the collision. Reporter the chp towed the wrecked bus to this evidence yard where it will be inspected for possible mechanical failure. Well look at everything weve got, including any sort of driver input or speed, if you will, that may have caused this. Reporter how fast was the bus going, do you know . No, because we were so there was a great mood, we were talking to each other. So, you know, nobody was careful to what was happening. Reporter the California Public Utilities Commission which oversees charter buses shows the company is licensed and insured. We reached out to charter brothers for comment but have not heard back. Air National Guard drones like this give fire officials another set of eyes in the sky. The drones hover twice as high as most helicopters. And special sensors can see through the smoke and deliver live video feeds to commanders on the ground. We can show them where the fire is moving. Whether it be north, south, east, west. Or if embers start flying four and five miles away, they have literally Realtime Data and they can start taking their limited resources and put them where it counts most. Because those drones are operated by pilots on the ground, the aircraft can hover over fires for more hours than manned aircraft can. Dozens of north bay families have new happier memories just two months after losing their homes in the october wildfires. Several photographers snapped family portraits for fire survivors at the Luther Burbank home and gardens. Each family received the photos for free while photographers and other volunteers volunteered their time. We want to be able to reach back into the community and say here are some portraits for you to put on your wall when you rebuild your home. Looking at ahead. Lots of events tonight and tomorrow. And its already down in the 40s in santa rosa. 49 degrees. Also fairfield, down to 46 right now. Concord and livermore in the mid to low 50s.
