Then that number was used to argue that its so unlikely that that could happen that he must have been the perpetrator. Reporter the Innocence Project argued it was bad science. A judge dismissed all charges. It was really an honor to work on the case and help to try and get his conviction reversed. Its why i went to law school, to you know correct the wrongs that inevitably happen in the justice system. Reporter payne was actually paroled in 2005 but his freedom was hampered by the fact he had to register as a sex offender. For him its just an enormous relief to not have to live this anymore. The most recent accident was yesterday morning in which two officers were injured during a chase in hayward. Also in hayward, an officer on Christmas Eve another officer was opinioned under a car after being hit on highwa 4 on january 15th. And a few days later an officer was hit in san jose n. Three of those crashes officers say driving under the under the influence is believed to be the cause. As medically woodrow explains this has prompted chp to beef up enhanced enforcement. Reporter they are enhancing patrols for impaired drivers. Out of four crashes involving chp officers three of them involved drivers suspected of being under the under the influence.
