When you do get back, im interested in knowing what you think, congress may actually take up, President Trump yesterday tweeted that Congress May Finally be in the mood right now to do something. So what could that something be . Well, anything would be an improvement. The last three years that i have been in congress not one bill has come up in terms of gun violence prevent. Theres been more than 300 of them, not a hearing, not a vote, no accountability. So we are hearing some movement from republican colleagues that they might be interested in background checks. A lot of the laws are regulated by states, rv. The problem with individual states and municipalities, it works to a degree, but it creates an underground that flur ri flourishes, like chicago, they have very stringent gun laws. Theyre up 30 , nationwide, these run way intrusions so we should look at them and make sure were finding out what the problems are . And evidence it may be a p pattern due to a specific cause instead of it being random . Having spent a long time on this now, with the faa and they have been very responsive. I think its a case of busy airports like atlanta, theyre pushing more and more people through there, but when you have volume, you have to be more stringent about safety. Youre holding the gun violence town hall at Stanley Middle School in lafayetdowntow lafayette . Thats why your congressmen are back in town this week so you can talk to them and they can listen.
