Two bay area teens who recently graduated together from Tamalpais High School in mill valley are spending their second night in an italian jail. Former classmates stunned. This is the pair reportedly moments after being detained in their hotel room. Italian Authorities Say the two confessed to being involved in a violent altercation. The police man stabbed during a scuffle overnight friday with the teens after two people suspected of stealing a back pack from another man tried to ransom it back. They claimed it was a drug deal gone bad. The pair captured here in surveillance video. Law enforcement says they found overwhelming evidence in the teens hotel room including the alleged murder weapon cleverly concealed behind one of the ceiling tiles, and bloodstained clothing supposedly worn in the attack. Reporter tonight they are in custody in italy. Accused of murdering a Police Officer after allegedly stealing a back pack and demanding money and drugs in exchange for its return. Officer Mario Cerciello rega and his partner showed up at the drop off location and were attacked by teens. Ive never seen violence in him. Reporter they parent a different picture of him. Ive known him since he was a boy. Im in shock. Hes one of the nicest neighbors i have. Reporter at elder San Francisco home, the family put this note on the door requesting privacy. In a statement they told us, we are shocked and dismayed at the events that have been reported, but have very little independent information about these events. We have not been able to have any communication with our son. Elder left Sacred Heart High School his junior year and transferred to tamme high later that year. He and Natale Hjorth didnt become close until they connected at Santa Barbara college where they both go to school. And police say elder is the one who stabbed the officer, but under italian law, a person participating in a killing is at risk of being charged with murder even if he or she doesnt carry out the actual killing itself.
