Reporter good evening. I am on jackson avenue and this stretch of street has been shutdown from story road and cinderella causing quite a of traffic in the area. You can see there is an active scene. The vehicles involved in the crash, theyre starting to be cleared out. The Coroners Office arrived about half an hour ago. We are still waiting for the press Information Officer from San Jose Police department to arrive with a fresh update. But take a look at shots from sky 7 from earlier this afternoon. Ns what we know so far. A pedestrian was killed by a hit and run driver in East San Jose thursday afternoon. The crash was reported at story road and South Jackson avenue at 3 45 p. M. The suspect left the area on foot and the intersection will be closed to traffic until 7 00 p. M. Police are asking anybody who may have seen anything to please call 911 and for drivers, of course, to avoid the area. Now, we have been talking to residents around the crash. None of them want to go on camera, but one person told me she is not surprised at all about this fatality. A 12yearold girl from brentwood had to be air lifted from the hospital after she was critically hit by a hit and run driver. It happened around 7 00 this morning on sunrise road and trail side drive. The young girl was walking to Edna Hill Middle School when the driver of an suv hit her and kept on driving. The superintendent of Brentwood UnionSchool District said students who had class with the young victim were told about the incident and offered counseling. I think that its unfathomable that somebody would leave the scene after injuring a child. Its not really representative of the family and the community we have here in brentwood. The young victim was taken to u. C. Davis Medical Center where she is now in stable condition. The female driver was found at a nearby parking lot on elkins way. She was booked into Contra Costa County jail on charges of dui and felony hit and run. A busy street in San Franciscos chinatown is now being monitored by new security cameras after local merchants complained about crime driving away customers. City officials and neighborhood leaders hoped to stop crimes like this. Today in court, prosecutors dropped the most recent charge saying the woman had misidentified vincent as her knife wielding attacker.
