80, facing a division rival, an archrival in the seattle seahawks. And this is a situation, frankly, that is new for this team. This is a team kind of like the 1112 team that came out of nowhere in peoples minds, but was building a great locker room. This locker room is pretty good. Theyve got good leadership and they work well together. Theyve been tested through a couple of tough seasons. I think its like that 1112 team that wow, these guys are really good. I think they are good, and i think theyre going to transition to being the hunted pretty seamlessly in my mind. I dont think there is a big fear of that in my head that theyre not ready for prime time, that kind of thing. You mentioed garoppolo. Even just a couple of weeks ago, i had people asking me and maybe they were asking you. Was it really worth all that money . Is he the franchise quarterback . If you had to rate his performance this season on a 1 to 10, where would you put him . A solid. A solid 7. A solid grade. And they have not asked him to go a little built last week, but it hasnt been on his shoulders. Were not rushing the passer today and our running game is not working, go win us the game. They havent asked him to do that. So he has been doing his job and doing it really well. We cant complain when things are working, and youre running the football and playing great defense there will be a time at some point where hes going have to go do that, that magic stuff that russell does all the time, Aaron Rodgers does. And people will always leave a stratus for people who cant do that who can play great football, but cant do that magical stuff. And as we watch for that, people are complaining. Your complaints are falling on deaf ears today. It could get a lot worse. You could be a jets fan or a giants fan or a lot of other teams that need quarterbacks. Monday night, honestly, as long as i live, it will be recreating those moments and that feeling in candlestick on a monday night. We tell people now because the stadium is gone. People who never got to experience that, when we played l. A. , beat l. A. They would be stomping on it. Wed be underneath the old stadium and you could hear. The thing would be moving, and you could feel the stadium move with the adrenaline and the energy. And so monday night games at home through those years, holy cow. I mean, just a rush of memories. Jerry rice, the raiders taking the record. Oh, my gosh, i i wish i was back there. Good times. Hopefully this place rocks tonight like candlestick did years ago. It needs it. It needs kind of a definitive game to anchor all the fans and everybody. Were all human nature, and we need those collective moments together where we go oh, my gosh, were you there, you know. And tonights one of those times that could happen like that. Hopefully well have one of those moments tonight. And jimmy g will have one of those defining plays where we look back years from now and say we were here the night they beat the seahawks. One concern for jimmy g, will not have his star tight end George Kittle ribble to him. He is nursing knee and ankle injuries. Talking with him a few weeks ago its got to be killing him, just killing him not to be able to play in a game of this magnitude tonight. And robbie gould, the niners kicker is out as well with an injury, a quad i believe. The niners will have a new kicker tonight. Well talk more than as we continue counting down to kick off here live at levis stadium at the top of the hour. For now, lets go back to the studio, dan and ama. Larry, thank you. Sky 7 flew over levis stadium earlier today. You see the espn crews setting up the broadcast booth for tonights game. We talked to fans of both teams, including one who is a veteran. I trust veterans day months and months ago because it had to be seattle. It had to be 49ers. It had to be in San Francisco. Everyone lined up. It was like the stars aligned. Its going to be a great game. I think the seahawks are definitely going to win. Its going to be a close game, but its going to be good. All fans in attendance will be given a salute to service rally towel, and there will be a veterans day tribute before the game. Espns monday night football coverage begins at 5 00 right here on abc7. Here is a live picture of levis stadium where its all going to happen here pretty soon. The undefeated 49ers getting ready for the huge game against the seahawks. Still not that many people in the stands. Kickoff is still a little while away, but its going to be packed, obviously. This is undoubtedly the biggest game for the 49ers at levis stadium since they played the seahawks on thanksgiving in 2014. The year the stadium opened. Both teams had 74 records heading into that game, which seattle ended up winning thanks to then seahawk turned 49er richard sherman, who intercepted two Colin Kaepernick passes. The loss prompted the beginning of a tough stretch for the niners that saw them lose 51 of the next 69 games through last season. So theyve been really on a tough streak. Thats all history now with San Francisco being the nfls alone unbeaten team. What a turnaround and story it is this season, right . Absolutely. Its been incredible. So lets get a quick check on the gametime weather. Spencer christian tracking that for us at kickoff. Spencer . Reason is the father of six children, a local rapper who works in local construction. Stephanie bass believes her son must not have known thomas was a Police Officer. But i really believe if he would have said that he was a Police Officer, that my son would have not been arguing back or something. Reporter now the owner of the food shop here did tell me that they did catch this incident on their surveillance system, but that that video has been turned over to investigators. Bart has apologized to the man who was detained last week for eating a breakfast sandwich on the platform at Pleasant HillContra Costa Center station. We showed you the video. The man involved spoke today with abc7 News ReporterLyanne Melendez and told her the Police Officer could have hand. Ed it differently. Just about everyone has seen this video taken last week at the bart Pleasant Hill station. Steve foster of concord was stopped by a bart officer identified as d. Mccormick for eating on the platform. Bart says its not allowed because it wants to keep the system safe and clean. It would have been simple if he went up to me and hey, you cant eat on bart, nor on the platform, and i would have been informed. I didnt the platform. A statement written by bart general manager bob powers points out the officer did warn him. Quote, when the officer walked by again and still saw him eating, he moved forward with the process of issuing him a citation. Foster says thats not what happened. He never walked past me. I was at the end of the platform, so it was impossible for him to walk past me. He came straight to me from the escalator from me here. I watched him come up the escalator and make a beeline to me. When foster refused to show him his idea, foster grabbed his bag and would not let go. He admitted he said alleged homophobic slurs. I said everything i said and dont regret none of it. Fosters girlfriend was the person who took the cell phone video. When he was grabbing him and four or six officers came running up about a sandwich, i was nervous. When they turned around and grabbed him and put him in handcuffs, i was nervous. Granted, i dont take bart that often, but if i were coming through here in a hurry, i would probably miss this sign that says among so many other things, no eating, no drinking. But during the time we were there, we saw many infractions like people taking their bicycles on the escalator, going past the fare gates without paying, and yes, drinking on the platform. None of them were stopped or cited. Bart issued an apology today. Im disappointed how the situation unfolded. I apologize to mr. Foster. Our riders, employees, and the public who have had an emotional reaction to the video. Foster says he doesnt accept barts apology and is considering taking legal action against the transit agency. And we just got this statement from the bart Police Officers association. It reads in part fosters activity caused the situation to escalate and his refusal to simply stop his illegal conduct was the root cause of this entire situation. The desire by some to focus on the race of the parties and not the conduct of foster is disappointing. Now they go on to say on behalf of the members of the bart Police Officers association, i make no apologies for our officers conduct in the matter. In the newsroom, Lyanne Melendez, abc7 news. Abc7 news anchor dion lim explains that the effort to make change goes far beyond the city limits. Seeing it happen to someone else, you know, really made me realize how much we need to shed light on it and speak up. The video is hard to watch. Seniors in chinatowns portsmouth square are beaten and knock odd to the ground over an attempted robbery over the weekend. Its disgusting. Its the kind of attack that seems to be happening all too often. Just this past summer two seniors were viciously assaulted while crossing a street in broad daylight. Community leaders Whose Organization offered up a 25,000 reward in that case say there needs to be more Law Enforcement presence and the installation of emergency call box stations. Its not only in chinatown. Reporter in a community not known for speaking out, this woman, who doesnt want to reveal her name or identity is coming forward with what happened to her father just weeks earlier. He had a gun pointed at him, pistolwhipped, told him im going to shoot you. The one in the blue holding him down, yanking him. They punched him. Her father, who lives in San Francisco, decided to open up his parking lot business in the Central Valley to escape the crimes of the big city. You see there is a trend. Back at portsmouth square, another speaking out with no words. A silent protest led by the granddaughter of a nearly 90yearold woman who was brutally beaten and left for dead in Visitacion Valley earlier this year. Both have a strong message with or without words. It could be anybodys dad, you know . Speak up. We reached out to sfpd, but have not heard back. In San Francisco, dion lim, abc7 news. Awful.
