This is going to be eventually a big case. Because it will go beyond pennsylvania. In the east bay, thousands of people came out to celebrate Kamala Harris and her roots there. Many also seized the opportunity to say goodbye to President Trump. Youre fired message went up at oaklands grand lake theater. Harris spent her childhood in berkley. The block outside her old home turned into a party today. Matt boon was there. Reporter this is where she spent much of her young childhood. She even went to the preschool at the bottom of this building. Today people came from all over the bay area to celebrate. There are still some people who live on this block who lived here when kamala was a child. They remember her, they know her and congratulated her today. Were so proud of her. Shes just such a lovely, humble spirit, and we just feel her presence right here on this street. As dozens of people gathered on her block, Judy Robinson says from an early age she had a husk this mome hunch this moment would come. Could you have ever imagined she would be the one breaking this Glass Ceiling . No. I knew kamala was destined for greatness, because kamala had an air about her, a greatness about her. She had the ability to listen to people from a very young age, to Pay Attention in class. She had a gift of that, to be able to listen and process information and turn it into something positive. Now to the latest coronavirus numbers. The u. S. Reported more than 432,000 cases yesterday. There have been 237,000 deaths. Close to 6,000 cases were reported in california on friday. Bay area cases since the start of the pandemic have surpassed 126,000. And more than 1800 people have died. The majority of cases and deaths in the bay area are in the Santa Clara County and Alameda County area. President elect joe biden announced plans tonight to create a covid19 task force. I will name a group of experts as transition advisers to help take the bidenharris covid plan and convert it into an action blueprint. That plan will be built on bedrock science. Hes wasting no time and said in tonights speech he plans to put together that task force starting monday.
