Temperatures right now well into the 30s in a lot of cities. Down to 37 in Half Moon Bay. Its 38 in palo alto. 39 right now in fremont. Napa dropped to 37 degrees. In fact, the north bay valleys will have some of the coldest temperatures overnight tonight. So it is for that fact a frost advisory will go into effect from 3 00 a. M. To 9 00 a. M. Tomorrow morning for mill valley up to santa rosa over to sonoma and napa. For temperatures, some areas below freezing. Look at these lows, dropping to 30 in santa rosa tonight. A cold 37 in concord. 46 the overnight low in San Francisco. This will be the coldest night in the city since april 7th. Now, were not only tracking the cold weather. We also have several chances for rain in the week ahead. Well have that if the full accuweather forecast in a few minutes. We will be watching, drew. Thanks. As temperatures drop, covid cases are on the rise. The already struggling Restaurant Industry now faces a new challenge. How to keep their diners warm and safe. The impact on the economy is one of the key things were focused on as part of our efforts to build a better bay area. Abc7 News Reporter kris reyes talked to some Restaurant Managers and has this story. We have heaters coming on the way that will keep this whole, like, area right here. We also have more heat lamps on order. Reporter heat lamps to save the day. Thats what restaurants like rise pizzeria and sixtos can tina are hoping for even as this normally busy street felt empty on the first cool night of the season. Lori thomas owns two restaurants in San Francisco. She knows Cool Temperatures mean one thing. We saw 25 of the reservations we had like at 3 00 this afternoon cancel, right . You know, you cant blame anybody. Its cold. So these heat lamps arent cheap. They can cost up to 1,500. Its not the perfect solution. So restaurants are begging their diners either bundle up or come on in. And if you are planning to dine indoors, i talked to a ucsf doctor for some tips. If youre choosing to dine indoors, you want a restaurant thats in a kind of new Office Building where there are a lot of air exchanges per hour. If you want to dine indoors, try to wear your mask as much as possible. Reduce the duration of time. Dine with your pod. If you go to the bathroom, make sure you keep your mask on. Reporter most restaurants in the bay area are still at limited capacity so theres plenty of social distancing. Places like sixtos and rise try to keep their windows open for better ventilation. If you do have to dine outdoors, another tip. Just dress for the weather and help the Restaurant Industry get through what might be their toughest winter yet. We really need another federal aid package. If people can handle it, they can bundle up and wear uggs and wear coats and go out to eat, youre definitely going to help. Reporter the Transgender Community has been targeted by president trump. First a Controversial Military policy essentially banning trans individuals from serving. Its been a very confusing issue for the military, and i think im doing the military a great favor. Reporter there were also attempts to restrict access to health care and homeless shelters. The Trump Administration has systematically been dismantling the protections for transgender people and not just our basic human rights but also our very existence. Reporter activist aria sayid is hopeful things will change. Im still digesting it myself, of just what it means to be affirmed by this new administration, which weve been craving after the last four years of the horriblerhetoric. We are ready to keep fighting and putting pressure on democrats, on all elected officials to make sure that the most marginalized are brought to the table. Tonight, live doppler 7 showing you any showers, they have moved out. We have clear skies and those chilly temperatures settling in. Winds were certainly an issue earlier today. They were gusting well over 30 Miles Per Hour at times, especially close to the coast. Once that rain moved out, the winds really lightened. You could see most areas the winds are registering as calm, and they will remain pretty calm for tomorrow as well. Heres live doppler 7 along with satellite. The story were tracking, you can see that line of showers that rushed through the bay area brought some lightning, some hail, a quick downpour, some gusty winds. Even as we move into the sierra, brought some snow where there was a winter storm warning earlier this afternoon. It has really quieted down across california, and we are in store for a cold night across the golden state. In fact, freeze warnings and frost advisories stretch all the way from the Central Valley down into southern california. So many cities are going to see their temperatures drop into the 30s and 40s overnight tonight. Right now we already have cities here in the bay area well into the 30s like Half Moon Bay already down to 36 degrees. Were at 36 in san ramon. 37 in napa. A chilly 43 in hayward right now. Down to 40, that current temperature in santa rosa. So under those clear skies, light winds, temperatures will just continue to plummet. In fact, were seeing a lot of 30s on the board. Fairfield dropping to 39. 35 in napa, dropping to 38 in redwood city. San jose, down to 39. 41 in oakland. 46 that overnight low in San Francisco. We do have that frost advisory for the north bay valley starting at 3 00 a. M. Early tomorrow morning, lasting until 9 00 a. M. For those morning temperatures, anywhere from 30 to about 37 degrees. So well likely find some patchy frost in areas of the north bay. Good idea if you havent, protect your plants and also bring your pets inside. They do not like the cold weather just as much as we dont like it. The 12hour planner tomorrow showing that frosty morning first thing with temperatures in the 30s and 40s.
