One of those involved is a young israeli woman who was able to escape when hamas attacked a Music Festival in israel on october 7th. At october 7th, i survived with five friends of mine. We ran for 11 miles, along the old way when they were shooting at us. I came here because we have a peace rally. Every college has an encampment. Everyone has something to say. Everyone has a lot of money going through this encampment. And israel stands for himself itself has nothing to do with it, and we are trying to bring justice into this place. Propalestinian students came out and gave their own speeches throughout the afternoon, but both demonstrations remained peaceful. Storm is offering up some pretty stunning nighttime images for a third night in a row that is, depending on where you live, the strongest such storm to hit earth in two decades will continue overnight. Tonight but weather experts say the visibility wont be as strong, only dipping as low as lake tahoe. Abc seven News Reporter j. R stone is hearing from some in the bay area who already got a good look. This image of the Northern Lights was taken along the side of a vineyard in yountville friday by margie verdin. I was just so jazzed. I was so amazed at how beautiful the showcase of colors were. Margie couldnt see these images with her eyes. She put her iphone in night mode, hit the shutter and took the picture. Then she saw this. It was just in my backyard. Other people had to fly to ireland and norway or alaska. Just to see those beautiful colors. And i saw it. And while many could only see the Northern Lights in their pictures, some like kitty nikolai, who were far from city lights and paradise, california, could see them starting around 1030. We could literally see it with the naked eye. The photos were just absolutely fantastic. So we got the we got the purples and the pinks and the greens. I thought i saw a pink hue in the sky. And i you know how sometimes you question yourself and think its because you want to see it . And i close my eyes and i open them again and im like, no, i see pink. We reached there at around 1 15 a. M, and at least for the first half an hour, we could very clearly see them with our eyes. Stanford scholar Sushant Mahajan took these images from an area near the Lick Observatory in Mount Hamilton early saturday morning. We got a g5, which is why, like aurorae were visible in all 50 states, even hawaii. G5 was the highest level solar storm of the weekend. Saturday night was a g3 and sunday night was a g3, possibly g4, depending on what expert you talked with. All of these images , though, were taken friday night and early saturday morning. You had to have it on night mode. And like my husbands got the, hes got the x, the iphone x, he doesnt have night mode, so he couldnt see it at all. Visually or on his phone. So in the newbies would come in and say, oh, i cant see anything. And, you know, somebody would always run over to them and help them with their phones. Excitement, gratitude. I was awed because of being able to see it. Jr stone, abc seven news a sight. All right, talking about the weather, bringing spencer in as we take a live look from our exploratorium camera tonight and spencer, weve got enough fog to keep some of us in the dark. Were also talking about our 24 hour accuweather forecast. Give us the conditions. Okay, dion. Well, fog has been the big concern because obviously if the fog is dense and low, it will obscure our view. Well, right now weve got some live pictures to show you. The fog is not so dense yet and not very widespread. Heres a view from our exploratorium camera. We can see the sky here, and a little bit of light fog off in the distance, drifting over towards oakland. A similar view from emeryville. You can see lots of bright sky there, and from mount tam looking down onto the bay, you can see the absence of significant areas of fog. However, the problem with viewing tonight, if you are in the central bay area is the reflection of city lights. Urban lights off the moisture in the atmosphere that can obscure your view as significantly as as fog can. So for the next couple of hours, doesnt look like the fog is going to deepen or expand very much. But the best viewing areas here in the bay area will be away from city lights. The farther you get away from, say, a city like San Francisco or oakland, the darker the skies, the better your view will be. Thats the best guarantee i can give you of being able to see the Northern Lights tonight. The rest has to happen from the sun. And ill have the accuweather seven day forecast coming up a little bit later. Dion okay. Makes a lot of sense spencer. Thank you. Youre sure to hear much more about the big week ahead in the hush money criminal trial of former president donald trump. Tomorrow, his fixer turned foe Michael Cohen is set to take the stand. And as abc News Reporter alison cossack tells us, hes believed to be the prosecutions star witness against mr. Trump. Michael cohen is preparing to take the witness stand monday. He made the 130,000 payment to star Stormy Daniels immediately before the 2016 election, in order to buy her silence about an alleged affair, which trump has denied any wrongdoing. Prosecutors accused trump of falsifying Business Records linked to that payment, so the public wouldnt hear her claim, adding it was part of a scheme to deny voters information in which cohen was at the center of. During the trial, the jury heard a recording of cohen talking about how trump complained about paying. I cant even tell you how many times he said to me, you know, i hate the fact that we did it. And my comment to him was, but every person that youve spoken to told you it was the right move. On friday, cohen was rebuked by judge juan merchan for making Public Comments ahead of his testimony. The defense suggested he impose a limited gag order similar to the former president , but the judge stopped short of issuing an official mandate after court was dismissed. The presumptive 2024 republican nominee lashed out at the decision. There is no gag order to Michael Cohen. What the judge did was amazing. Actually. It was amazing. Everybody can say whatever they want. They can say whatever they want. But im not allowed to say anything about anybody. The jury also heard unflattering things said about cohen during witness testimony. Stormy daniels former lawyer keith davidson, called him a jerk and sort of a pants on fire kind of guy who no one wanted to talk to. Former White House Communications director hope hicks said cohen was trumps fixer only because he first broke things. Alison kosik, abc news, new york. Meantime, President Biden will be back in washington tomorrow to deliver remarks for National Asian american, native hawaiian and Pacific Islander heritage month. Back on friday, he made a visit to the bay area for a couple of Campaign Fundraisers and was met by both propalestinian and israeli supporters outside each of those events. Well, you may have seen this massive plume of smoke over the port of oakland today. It ignited at about 3 00 this afternoon. Oakland firefighters tell us the fire burned through a pile of lithium batteries. And that kind of fire can be tricky to extinguish. But the good news the fire was out and the smoke appeared to be clearing by around 4 00 today. Firefighters are still investigating the exact cause. Well, the internet is going wild for a smiling bear captured by a wildlife photographer near los angeles. Find where i see animal tracks or animal activity happening. And a nice scene that i want to establish. And then i set the camera there and i need to leave it for several weeks, and then i come back and see what happened, and. All right, this. Oh, it doesnt even look real. This special shot was taken a couple of weeks ago, but took time, as you heard, to discover the photographer actually picked that spot in the mountains overlooking pasadena and set up her camera a year ago. Camera is a handheld dslr, like a canon camera that you would normally use, but its hooked up to a motion sensor. So when the animal comes by, it senses motion just like your patio lights or your driveway alarm and triggers the camera to go off . The right place at right time. Her photos are for sale on cougar magic dot com, with some proceeds going toward animal conservation groups. Wow. They dont even look real. Amazing pictures. Its almost like the animals posed for them. Look, its smiling and just having a grand old time. Just remind me not to go to that part of pasadena or get too close to a bear. But the pictures are truly amazing. They really are. Our weather is actually Pretty Amazing too. You know, we weve been concerned about the fog. Perhaps obscuring our view of the Northern Lights. The fog hasnt really amounted to much. So far, although there is the reflection of light off the moisture in the air, which of course is a problem. The darker the skies are, where you are, the better your chance of seeing the Northern Lights. High pressure the controlling factor in our weather right now giving us mainly sunny days and relatively Clear Conditions inland during the night time. Right now the wind is relatively calm, but we do have an onshore flow and the fog, such as it is, is beginning to push across the bay. Its just a few degrees cooler right now than at this time last night. So not a significant change. And heres a view from the exploratorium camera looking toward the bay bridge and off in the distance, we see some thin layers of fog down at the lower elevations, but not much to speak of at the moment. 51 degrees here in the city. Oakland 53. Mid to upper 50s in hayward, san jose, redwood city and 52 at half moon bay. Another view from emeryville. Seeing a little thin sliver of fog off in the distance there in oakland. But weve got lots of clear sky out there, 50 right now in santa rosa, petaluma 48, napa, 52 upper 50s at fairfield and livermore. Concord 62 degrees. And lets check out our forecast headlines for tonight. During the overnight hours, the cooling fog will continue as push out over the bay. The week ahead will bring us mainly sunny days and of course, dry conditions. We see no rain in the seven days ahead and the temperature range in the week coming up will be generally mild to warm from the bay to our inland areas. So the forecast futurecast looks like this. Starting at midnight, the fog will begin advancing more vigorously across the bay between midnight and about 3 a. M. Then after three, well see lots. Well, you may not see it if youre not
