Today in the bays pete suratos is live in berkeley with a handful of shops opening. I know they have that first transaction moments ago. People are really trying to get in behind you. He is the first person to have that transaction for Recreational Marijuana here in berkeley. Of course, its one of a handful of dispensaries selling Recreational Marijuana in the bay area. A big day for these dispensaries. A happy moment for them. I want to show you the city we are going to see those dispensaries, selling Recreational Marijuana, they include san jose, santa cruz, oakland, richmond and berkeley on the list. Theres more dispensaries in San Francisco. They are going to be selling Recreational Marijuana. I spoke to people who have been in line since 4 00 a. M. Here is what they are saying about that. Part of the reason theres so few permits is with the difficulty of staying within the regulations. Police are asking anyone with information to come forward. A Deadly Police shooting in redwood city. Saturday afternoon, officers responded to a call about a man with a gun near the atm. Police say they tried to convince that man to surrender. Instead, he pulled out a gun and fired at officers. Officers returned fire as the man was killed. His identity has not been released. Police did say they know him and he had a history of Police Contact since he was eight years old. Bart will start requiring all passengers to carry proof of payment. Right now, a Fare Inspection Team is training and expected to roll out the new rules. Once they start patrolling the train stations in that area, there will be a one month warning period for everyone. After that, if you are caught not paying your fare, you will get a 75 ticket. Tragedy in colorado. The disturbing details we are learning about an ambushstyle attack on sheriffs deputies on new years day. A tragic story out of colorado this morning, where a crime played out some 45 times in 2017. It is a Law Enforcement officer shot dead in the line of duty. This time, it happened in a denver suburb. Five deputies were shot new years morning after responding to a 911 call about a noise disturbance. Two civilians were caught in the cross fire. The harrowing moments were caught on one of the deputys radios as Steve Patterson shows us. Shots fired shots fired reporter a deadly shootout in an ambush. We have one deputy down. All of us have been hit at least once. Reporter deputies responded to a disturbance call in a suburb outside denver. Boom, boom, boom. Reporter police say the gunman opened fire at the responding officers after barricading himself in a bedroom. In the end, he shot seven, five deputies and two civilians, killing one deputy. All of them were shot very, very quickly. It was more of an ambushtype of attack on our officers. He knew we were coming. Reporter Police Warning residents to shelter in place and stay away from walls and windows. Deputies returned gunfire, killing the suspect. The deputy killed 29yearold zachary paetsch ir, a father of two who joined the department seven months ago. A sad day. Reporter the sheriff visibly shaken. We are deeply saddened by the loss of zachary. When i sat with his wife and held her hand, i could see in her eyes, her life was over. Reporter residents in Law Enforcement showing their support as parish was taken from the hospital to the morgue in a somber procession. All of the injured deputies are in stable condition. Among them, deputy jeff, son of a nearby Boulder County sheriff recovering after emergency surgery. It is a tragic day we will feel for a long time. Reporter mourning the loss of one of their own. That was Keith Patterson from outside denver. Others were treated for nonlife threatening injuries. This is the first day of the year and the first day of new taxes. The irs trying to figure what that means. Thats right. The new tax law takes effect today. It was finalized 13 days ago. The irs has had 13 days to figure out what the law says. Keep in mind, 6 of those 13 days were weekends or federal holidays. If you are not sure what the new tax law is today, neither is the irs. During the christmas break, we saw taxpayers all over the United States line up to pay their property tax early in order to save money. Taxes like property and state tax will be less deductible and that starts today. That brings up an interesting political point. Washington assures americans they are getting a tax cut. Every person in every line lined up during the Christmas Holiday were trying to avoid higher taxes. None of the people you see here think they are getting a tax cut.
