That rig there it is on its side and chp suv just over to the right and thats blocking three lanes no, maybe only two lanes. Weve heard that three lanes are blocked but it looks like two lanes from this shot. This is northbound 880 at at the Union City Hayward border near whipple and dire, theres target and walmart nearby on either side of the freeway. This is a really bad spot. There you see the sky rangers shot. Lets show you on the map how far that backup goes. You saw those flares in lanes and this is on the northbound side of 880 approaching the whipple exit there. Whipple road in the east bay off of the nimitz. Its a distraction from the southbound side. As we have that commute building and the other crash is overturned rig on highway 84 just high of 680. Take the dublin interchange if youre choosing this morning for 580 as well. The rest of the bay shows what we expect for a lighter friday but there is a backup at the bay bridge as well. Three spots were watching and also for those folks helping the rig out there its very cold, right . So cold you do have to put on a lot of layers if you have to work outside. With starting out below freezing in spots like the trivalley, thats where you have to make sure that you are going to stay warm. Now, we are looking at some clear skies looking live right now in san jose and weve had those temperatures starting out this morning in the 30s and even some upper 20s now in livermore. Some shaking in the east bay. New this morning a lot of shaking going on around the danville area. The latest includes a 3. 5 quake. All of this tied to the recent quake swarm. 3. 5 happened a little before 5 30 this morning again near monte vista high school. We spoke to viewers who felt that shaking, this is one of ten small quakes since midnight and that includes a 2. 8 and 2. 7 over the last couple of weeks. Bart did check its tracks in the east bay delaying trains as they do for ten minutes every time after an earthquake in the bay area, but say everything is back to normal. 11 quakes between 2. 6 and 3. 5 have rattled the area over the past couple weeks. This gun control conversation is a hot button topic in light of what took place in florida. Now, he told me the reason of course why they are putting together this town hall is because of the events that happened in florida. It seems like its an ever changing discussion, even hearing the idea by the president , President Trump floating out the idea of possibly arming teachers. That is going to be one of the many things talked about at tomorrows town hall. But one thing that congressman told me when i spoke to him is that hes appreciative of the youth stepping forward and leading this discussion forward. Here is what he had to say. The shock that so many people are feeling about parklands Armed School Security guard deciding not to confront that shooter during that deadly rampage. This is video nbc gave to stations this morning, it shows the School Resource officer Scot Peterson three years ago at a board meeting. Late yesterday the Broward County sheriff talks about Surveillance Video he says shows peterson avoiding that building where so many students were getting shot. Well, what i saw was a deputy arrive at the west side of building 12, take up a position and he never went in. Now, that video has not been made public. As for Scot Peterson, the sheriff says that he resigned after he was told that he was being suspended without pay. Sheriff also says that hes sick to his stomach over the latest findings. A disturbing story in the south bay, Twin Brothers are behind bars this morning, San Jose Police say they arrested the man on the left, Clinton Pappadakis for possession of child pornography. Pappadakis is a track coach at oak grove high school. Last week Police Arrested his twin brother Clifford Pappadakis for also having child porn and taking inappropriate pictures of young girls at school. Clifford pappadakis is a pe teacher at willow glen middle school. Turns out making tuition free for City College Students is a little trickier than it would seem to be. At least it is for city college of San Francisco. The school still reportedly trying to receive payment for the landmark new program approved last year by San Francisco leaders. The hang up here involves a dispute over the vetting process being used for students who apply for free tuition. You see the Shopping Mall over to the right, theres lowes and walmart and target is on the other side of the freeway. The re the head lights are jammed upcoming through union city. The tow truck reportedly is over around Alvarado Niles and going up not even to the nexusity but all this backup is causing a problem for folks accessing the roadway. Hopefully in the next 15 minutes hopefully clearing it quickly. Most of the rest of the bay moves well but we do have this other issue highway 84 in the trivalley, an overturned double trailer still has to be cleared just about the paint ball area before you get to 680.
