This time when we found out i was pregnant, i said do you think its twins this time and he said no i went to the ultrasound by myself and sure enough, identical twin boys. Bode, we dont have to get in the whole long story, but you kind of had a premonition about this when you were a young, young man about having twins yeah, somehow i always knew i would have identical twin boys obviously after losing emmy, i think we both were sort of thinking it would be girls or hoping it would be girls and i found out and my midwife was like theyre boys. You have to tell morgan. I was like no, no, youre telling morgan no chance im telling her. A lot of boys in your house. A lot of boys. How is easton doing, by the way . We see hes a great little swimmer but hows life been . He is amazing and he reminds us so much of emmy and hes got this amazing personality and hes so happy and hes just such a perfect addition to our family its like he was waiting for us to bring him into this world. Hes been floating now and he started getting actually really excited for it you see him splashing and playing and he comes up from floating and all proud of himself. He knows he did it right its really cool to see that process of isr come to fruition. It is a little bit in the beginning, youre like oh, my god, my kid is trying to learn to float and he cant talk or crawl or do anything else. Now its cool it see him successfully navigating such a dangerous situation we were worried about. You and i have known each other for a little while and ive always been struck by your courage. I mean all the more so to put easton in this isr, which is infant swim training, thats hard for any parent to watch but having gone through what you have gone through, to do that, its so important but im sure it took a lot of bravery it definitely took patience and bravery and grace with ourselves. There were moments where it was a trigger. But weve had two sessions now this summer and weve had over 80 kids go through these two sessions and so to have other parents kind of walk down that path with us hand in hand has been really helpful. To see other kids successfully learn to float and swim is a dream, you know. Its everything that we wish we had done before that we now get to provide for so many parents. Youve been doing this in your neighborhood, right, bode you guys have had people over training our house is just a revolving door of kids all day and its good. I think its also cool we have the coral drowning detection system in our pool and its actually been a natural, nice wait for parents to sort of be introduced to obviously under extreme circumstance the way we do things now, they ask about those and while theyre watching their kids learn to float, theyre looking at how we sort of tried to protect our pool its been really cool to see that as we talked about, the intensity of the conversation being the number one cause of injuryrelated death, being able to provide awareness as we tried to do and now solutions, i think ultimately will change the statistics a bit. I mean, its just last june you lost emmy. Of course, you had easton, you were pregnant at the time. Now you have easton. Now youre having twins. When i look at everything youve gone through with such grace, just the complexity of loss and life and hope and grief. How have you managed to hold all of these things simultaneously yeah, i dont know. I guess supporting each other. We have a really good network of family and friends i think staying busy and staying focused on, you know, the future and solutions and the present of enjoying our kids. The kids kind of pull us forward. Definitely. They demand interaction and they have a great way of healing and obviously, you know, weve sort of reevaluated and doing a really cool kind of move or splitting time between california and montana, which we love california, but being able to go to the mountains for me has always been kind of healing and being outside and, yeah, i think its been were sort of trying to rely on our family and friends and sort of because there are still even now, i mean theres moments where its just really tough i think for each of us and you know, do you have to it takes a village not just to raise kids but to support each other through things like this too. Yeah. You have to fight for it every day for your hope and your happiness. Every day is a choice on how we want to continue forward and make sure that our kids are getting the best of us, of life, and not to say its easy its a battle every day to get out of bed but to see them and see the joy through their eyes and to live vicariously through all of their daily experiences makes each day just a little bit easier we carry emmy with us every day. That part doesnt ever get easier but we, you know, we just imagine what it would be like to have her there and we share our tears, we share our memories, and we revisit stories but keeping her a part of our family has really made this journey a little bit easier for our family well, your family is so wonderful and getting bigger and were so happy for you thank you were so thrilled for these identical boys you saw in your mind all of those years ago.
