Being turned away because the inference that i got was the fact that i wasnt american and not born in the United States stung. Reporter after doing some research today, the chief discovered the reason for his denial. It turns out the department of Homeland Security deemed all birth certificates from puerto rico invalid if they were certified before 2010. Thats because of a massive fraud scandal on the island involving birth certificates. Garcia said he had no idea about the scandal or the government action. The reason they dont accept it is for absolutely valid reasons, i understand that. It was just it needs to be communicated better. Reporter garcia says nowhere in the application process does it explain the requirement. Hes hoping for more clarity by the dmv so no other puerto rican will feel the same humiliation he felt today. A teacher in the east bay was arrested last night and accused of Sexual Abuse Involving two of her former students in the 1990s. 54yearold Kyle Ann Wood was arrested at her home in lafayette. Shes now on administrative leave from the high school where shes a p. E. Teacher. The district sent a notice to all families explaining that sex charges were filed against the teacher. Police received a report about a relationship involving wood spo attorneys office. One of the victims came forward last year to the Sheriffs Department and alerted them to the situation. At that point the Sheriffs Department obviously taking it very seriously because it involved a teacher student relationship with a person who is still an acting teacher. Wood has been with the district since 1994. There is a criminal investigation under way and an internal School District investigation. She is now out on bail and due in court on january 16th. Nine months after a deadly San Francisco shootout, federal investigators have unveiled the grand jury indictment against two suspects. In march of last year one man was killed at the fillmore heritage center, five others wounded. One of them left paralyzed. The case opened a Law Enforcement divide. The suspects are accused gang members and were jailed only on weapons charges. Today the police chief and the feds came down hard with charges and an indictment that carries the death penalty. Theyre the telltale signature left by the power line that after a worn hook failto the st butte county prosecutors fought to keep that photo secret, but they gave up last week. Its now published in the cpucs final report on the campfire which blames lax inspections toor the fire that killed 85 people and leveled the town of paradise. The photos release comes as the utility faces an order by a cpuc judge to specify how big a tax break it could get for the deal, the utility struck with the agency as punishment for violating safety regulations. Critics like loretta lynch, former head of the cpuc, say any tax break is unacceptable. Thats a big boondoggle here. So pg e on the one hand pays money but on the other hand gets money in a tax break and keeps that money, pockets it. Reporter lynch says the company shouldnt get any money back given its dismal safety record. They should not get the benefit of all of those bad acts.
