He knew there was a leak because the water heater went out and the plumber accidentally punched a hole. Pg es sensors alerted them to an underground leak. I didnt smell none that have gas. It was very scary, very dangerous. Nobody knew. Reporter we showed pg e these pictures. The utility says it looks like a developer or hoa issue. Pg e you do anyone who smells gas to call them for an an inspection. But this man says what happens when you cant smell the leak . He worries his neighbors may have the same issue and not know it. Roger castillo says now hes worried. He lives across the street and has seen a lot of pg e crews out here over the last couple of years. And i know somebody was reporting they smelled gas a couple of years ago, im like, oh. Reporter were still wait to go hear back from the hoa and the property manager. A Major Construction can be, webcor, tells us they wrote the check at the request of alameda but the City Attorney contends the money didnt go to help kids, instead it funded a 30,000 Holiday Party for public works. Webcor is fully cooperating with the citys subpoena. Reporter hes the spokesman for webcor who has been involved in ongoing litigation. He told us the Public Works Department solicited donations for the last five years. And the company has given between 3,000 and 5,000 annually. Were very concerned that money that was intended to go to children was in some manner misused or misdirected without webcors knowledge. Reporter this City Attorney is investigating whether there was a larger scheme to funnel money to dpw or any other city agency. It got hectic. Reporter thats how she described a tense morning in court. John lee cowell, the man accused of killing her sister nia wilson, was escorted out after just 15 minutes. R. T. Then cowell interrupted, asking what prosecutors were looking at, and he started cursing. Its the next big thing, creating a lot of headaches in oakland. A moped ride share business has joined the bike share and scooter program. Says they havent had any parking issues with the mopeds. Thats not what we found at other parts of this neighborhood and other parts of the city, though. In red zones, in front of driveways, and in construction zones. Neighbors around lake merritt have taken note of the new mopeds around the city. A thousand of them on the streets since the second week of january. What weve noticed is sometimes theyre just strewn across the sidewalk. Reporter according to city parking data obtained by nbc bay area, rebel mopeds racked up 178 parking tickets in just its first three weeks of service. 123 in street cleaning zones. And another 32 in red zones. This woman says her neighborhood lost a lot of parking to ride share scooters and the mopeds make it even worse. I live in a very congested place, everyone parks here for ride share because its free meters at a certain point. Revels founder told nbc bay area, quote, riders can only park in legal spaces within the designated service area including in residential parking permit zones and at metered parking spaces. Riders are responsible for any parking tickets incurred within 24 hours of ending their ride. That leads us to believe that we dont have a really serious fire concern right now. The increased fire risk over the last several years is now prompting Contra Costa County fire to increase staffing. In fact 22 new recruits graduated from the fire academy this evening allowing for fourman crews on every engine. Thats a lot happening. And i know each little microclimate is probably a different forecast for firefighters in different part of the state.
