But workers in full protective gear were busy at the fairgrounds entrance as people who had been screened and given appointments through the verily website kept showing up. Are people following the rules, staying at a distance and staying at home . Christie smith has that story. How is the traffic . Reporter a lot of places you would find people in San Francisco are just empty today. There are people this evening here along the embark dare owe out for some exercise. We spoke with the mayor and she said that is okay to step out and get some exercise. Certainly, you dont want to do it in a group and you want to maintain that social distancing. Most people we saw around the city today seemed to be doing that, but not all. These are extraordinary measures that we do during extraordinary times. Reporter albert ing runs soma sport and physio. Reporting live in San Francisco, christie smith, nbc bay area news. Christie, thank you. Yes, we are all learning and some real talk here. This is a stressful time for families. Just juggling work from home and kids and no school, even if your kids are in college, there are challenges. So as we stagger our staff, Jessica Aguirre is working from home. Ten years by my side here, now well do this in a double box. We can talk for hours how to deal with our kids. What are some of the hurdles youre going through, jess . Well, you know, raj, a big trip up to san diego or i should say down, 16 hours straight, seven ours there, two hours to pack her up, get her out of her Residence Hall and drive seven hours back here. 16hour round trip to get her home safely. Shes going to continue Classes Online. But one of the challenges we faced when she was here, we did today. Literally i got her up this morning, were going to go sign these papers today. I wanted her to sign this. Its an advance health care directive. Isabel is 19 years old. In the event she gets covid19 because shes an adult, that would prohibit me from being able to be part of her care, prohibit me from the doctors telling me what her condition is or because of hipaa laws. Today we went and signed this health care directive, which basically makes me an agent for her in case that shes sick. She designated me her Health Care Agent today, right. And that basically empowers me to make any medical choices for her in the event that she cant. And also it waives, you know, to be restricted or impeded by any hipaa laws. This gives me piece of mind. We had it notarized and documented so that in the event that something happens, i know that as a parent i can be there for my child, an adult child, and be able to really help her make the choices that are going to be best for her health. Thats interesting information. And speaking of Adult Children here, for High Schoolers and College Students here, were talking about final exams. Are they still going through with finals and will they still count towards their gpa, their units and these biglevel issues . So, everything is changing by the moment. Like in terms of isabel a with college, her online classes are set up. Shes going to keep the same schedule she did while she was there. They will do their finals. High school right now, we dont know if theyre going to continue to go for the rest of the year. Were still waiting in our district for them to be able to set upstarting next week and be able to start doing their Classes Online from home on a regular basis. But, you know, all those things like the finals, those are still up in the air. I will tell you olivia is a junior. Shes getting ready and we are she was supposed to take her s. A. T. I know, were going to set up a curriculum, a daily schedule and maybe make some time for recess, jeff, hopefully. Well, you know, and the weather. It really hasnt been cooperating a whole lot with being able to get outside in some rainfree conditions. But there is going to be some sunshine eventually on the way, also a little bit in the way of warmer weather. You can see outside right now, we do have cloud cover rolling on in with another round of showers throughout the bay area. I think well keep this chance of on again, off again wet weather in the forecast through tonight with the clouds, dropping down to a colder 49 once we hit 11 00 p. M. If you have to head out to the store for whatever reason, maybe to go to the pharmacy and pickup your prescriptions, be ready for some slick spots on the roadways and those Cool Temperatures where youll need jacket. A look at doppler radar, i have showers down in the south bay right now. Its moving off to the north and east. This would put some of that activity in mill pepitas. The weather is not big. Well keep the cloud cover. But you have to be ready for these on again off again chances even here into the afternoon with that mess chance over the santa cruz mountains, south bay and right there over contra costa andal immediate al immedi counties. Low 40s, widespread at 7 00 in the morning. By the afternoon we remain in the 50s. But heres the good news. We all probably want some sunshine and a little bit of that warmer weather. I do have that coming. Once we hit saturdays forecast were going to b
