Doctor turned patient at uc San Francisco doctor is back working in the busy emergency room after he tested positive and was forced to self quarantine. Dr. Daniel, so nice to see you. Im glad you are feeling better. You tested positive back in march, how are you doing now . Im doing fine. No symptoms at all. Great. And i heard you really didnt experience many symptoms when you first came down and found out you were positive back in march. What were you feeling . When i first got sick i felt a lot of body aches. Fevers. Cough. So you didnt actually need to go to the hospital. You were able to self isolate at home and recover . Yeah. So i didnt i went to the hospital to get tested but i was never admitted. So thats good. Because i know a lot o of people are. How did you self isolate . I know you have roommates. How do you the back room that im in now i stayed here. And we kwept away from each other. And any time i needed to use a common space id wash my hands beforehand and put a mask on and wipe down everything afterwards. I have a backyard too. So i got some sunshine. Good because a lot of people who did get it have roommates or family members and you dont want it when they do get released or when they do come down with it, you know, it is like what you do do . Were you roommates able to stay sfree of covid as well . Did it work . My roommates didnt get sick. And very fortunately nobody else i was in contact with got sick. I feel very lucky for that and im glad no one did. Wow. Good job. You are now donating or you did donate your plaza . Yeah. I did as part of a experimental study i got a test showed i have antibodies. So i went back a week later and donate ad liter of my plasma. That must feel rewarding. How do you feel working . Do you feel better knowing that you may have the antibody . Or you know there are reports maybe the antibody doesnt last long in the system . What are you hearing . Once you get diagnosed, how immune are you for how long . So i dont think we know. I think the jury is still out on that. So i treat it as if i am still susceptible. So full protection gear the whole time. Wearing everything i can to stay safe. Wash my hands all the time. Wearing gowns and gloves and mask and everything. Although i feel a little bit better because i had it already im still street treatying it like i can get sick again. Dr. Daniel. Thank you so much from ucsf the emergency room.
