Reporter they called 911 and met a sheriff deputy on the other side of lake. Shes grateful her Little Family survived. The fire destroyed the store and some of the boats. It could have been so much worse. Im thankful we got out. I got my babies out. Reporter kathy is still feeling so much anxiety about what happened. They are evacuated now and have been staying in a hotel in napa in in t city of napa. Shes not sure if she wants to return and continue living near the lake after what they went through. The latest update on the lnu complex fire. More than 370 acres burned. Five people sadly died. As for evacuations, how mountain road, the White Cottage to pope valley road and 8th grade from White College to pope valley road still under evacuation orders. Some evacuation warnings have been lifted. Further south now, the czu fire 20 containment. More people are being allowed to return. Many people who evacuated say the damage doesnt surprise them considering what they saw as they were leaving. I barely got down the hill because smoke and the ash was so bad, i could barely drive and see. Coming back into those zones, the repopulation slowly is expanding those zones so more people are moving back in. This is in santa cruz and san mateshl mateo counties. All the green are the areas where people can return to the homes. That includes mount herman and parts of eastern big creek road. The portion in red big basin and Boulder Creek are areas still too dangerous to reopen. Still a lot of haze in the air today thanks in part to the wildfires. We saw the wind switch a little bit. The fog took break as it usually does in the afternoon and the smoke kind of one out. As we bring you into that forecast, you can see a live look to the south and heres the layer of fog thats overSan Francisco and all of this gray up above. Thats the smoke thats been moving in. Let me give you another Vantage Point and you can see what were dealing with. All the fires in the north bay that he with have talked about even though containment numbers are up. Its coming from the north off to the south. 10 to 20 miles an hour. Its pushing a lot of the smoke from the north bay fires down here throughout the bay area. Current air quality does have everybody, at least most of us in the yellow which is moderate. Most unhealthy air over palo alto. Youre getting smoke from the fire to the north and the Santa Cruz Mountains fire is coming up from the south. You get sandwiches in between. Thats why you have the worst air quality. Well get back to our fire coverage in a few moments. We want to explain the new rules when it comes to the coronavirus. The governor introduced a new tier system that replaces the state watch list. This will dn businesses can reopen. Theres a on here. Well take you through the main bullet points. Each county is assigned to one of these four tiers. They are based on two items. The rate of new cases and the positivity rate. The dark purple is widespread. Thats the most restrictive. Yellow is minimal. Thats the least restrictive. What does this mean for businesses . Counties classified as widespread will have to keep most nonessential businesses closed. If counties are in the red substantial tier, those restrictions ease ever so slight i will. Look at the next two. The counties numbers improve, they move move into a less restriktsir restrictive tier. That means more can open. You see all San Francisco and napa are highlighted in purple. In order to move forward, counties have to meet the next tiers criteria for two weeks in a row. In numbers get worse, counties will be assigned a more restrictive t to the best of my recollection tier. Today if San Francisco the city announced it will join other counties in allowing more businesses to reopen. Less than an hour later a lot of confusion after the state made its announcement. Its been a lot of confusion for several weeks now. The mayor says she understands adjustments will need to be made and the city is working to help. She also said that nothing changes here today in the city based on the states new system. Hair salons, barbershops, nail salons and out door gyms are allowed to move forward. Reporter facials are still banned and tattoo shops remain open. Its not ideal for us. The roadblocks are down and were able to return home for first time in more than week. Were grateful that the house is still standing. We have friends that werent so lucky. Theres steps we took and you can take once you get home to begin to clean up. First of all, there is ash over everything. The experts say less is more with this. Dont grab for the leaf blow r because that will put it all back up in the air. Sweeping is better an and you can bag it and put pit in the trash. If you turned off your gas, contact pg e to safely turn it back on and relight pilot lights. They have extra crews in the area to help you do just that. Reporter inside the house, if youre lucky, a smoky smell is all you have to deal with and in that gas, vinegar and baking soda are your best friend. Use vinegar and warm water to wipe down your hard surfaces. A cup of vinegar in a load of laundry will help get rid of smoet smell in clothing. Baking soda can be sprinkled and vacuum off. Bowls of baking soda can be placed around the home to absorb odors. Gar vin, most important, pow are you and the kids doing in i know it must be a relief. How are the dkids doing . Its the biggest of the three fires burning in the bay area. Containment is at 35 . About 20,000 homes are threatened. 48 structures destroyed. Lets check in with one of the relatively small fires. This is the wood ward county in marin county. Flames are threatening more than 1600 structures. Evhave not changed since monday. Theres the fire complex north of us. Its now 18 contained. What are you seeing they they are also seeing . Were seeing the increase humidity at the lower levels. We had the bank of fog at the coastline. Thats good news. No extreme wind coming our way. That will also help. Temperatures cool off a couple of degrees tomorrow. Its kicking up the wind quite a bit. Thats the one exception on the wind thats make it harder there for firefighters. We are looking at temperatures dropping a few degrees. Wind gusts steady at 10. Weather will be helping. Were lickly going to push back in the unhealthy category. All in the unhealthy. Coasts will be fluk watsing into the moderate. If we get more containment, those numbers could be better. The mask wearing and the smoke outside might have you wearing that n95 mask. Temperatures will be in the upper 50s and low 60s. A bit cool to start. 54 here in San Francisco with some of that fog and for the north bay a mix of clouds and also smoke. We have High Pressure that is keeping the storm track way off to the north. No unusual storm systems moving in from the typical storm track. Off to the south we get this surge of heat pushing over the bay area. Still in San Francisco, this will bring us some 70s back once we hit monday, tuesday and wednesday. For the inland valley, were see numbers going back up into the upper 90s. Right now a two day event. You can see monday, 96, tuesday, 97. If you have some free time, you still want to do anything and you want the best clean air, the beaches could be your spot. Halfmoon bay, were looking at some 70s next week.
